1737 East Greenwich, Rhode Island, will of James Conningham (Cunningham) mentions he is formerly of Spanishtown West Indies. He is apparently husband of Elizabeth Markoe who is probably daughter of Dep. Gov at Spanishtown, Phillip Markoe (brother of Gov. Jan Markoe Jr of St Eustatius). James and Elizabeth apparently have son named James and daughter named Elizabeth. Another son of Phillip Markoe is also mentioned: John. James wills his sword to John Markoe. At this time a Peter Markoe is council member at Spanishtown (Virgin Gorda). This Peter could be progenitor of the prominent St. Croix line but not sure. Most of this info from Rhode Island Genealogical Register and from British History Online website. I have been unable to trace these Cunninghams.
