    3. Dear Bruce, I have a scatter of references to the West Indies in the 1600s, i.e. Montserrat, Barbados and St. Kitts. Here are the ones for St. Kitts (the earliest, listed below, is before your dates, but you may have seen potential references). My interest stems from my earliest ancestor in Northumberland Co., Virginia (purchasing property in 1641) Charles Fallon/Fallin [the latter spelling became favored from the 2nd generation on]. It seems likely that both my ancestor and a Redmond Fallin who purchased property in Dorchester Cty, Md in 1695 came from Ireland, via the West Indies. But, as you can see, my information is very fragmentary -- so any suggestions will be most appreciated. Jack Fallin Walnut Creek, CA WEST INDIES: ST. KITTS: “May 3 1630. Depositions of Dan. 2. Fallon/Fallin would certainly be an Irish name and in the 1600s Barbados had a large Irish population, mostly deported rebels who were enslaved or "indentured." "Speeches to the dishonor of the King" might be of an Irish nationalist nature. The fact that your Redmond Fallon/Fallin settled in Maryland would tend to indicate that he was a Catholic, since Maryland was officially a Catholic colony founded by the Catholic Earl of Baltimore. I have read that many Irish exiles escaped or 'legitimately' terminated their indentures on Barbados and migrated to the Leeward Islands, which would include St. Kitts, where there were more opportunities (most of the land in Barbados was held by a relatively small planter class). That's my two cents' worth. -----Original Message----- From: Jack Fallin <jakff@astound.net> To: caribbean@rootsweb.com Sent: Mon, Dec 14, 2009 3:37 pm Subject: Re: [Carib] CARIBBEAN Dig Issue 231- St. Kitts 1690 - 1750 Dear Bruce,I have a scatter of references to the West Indies in the 1600s, i.e. Montserrat, Barbados and St. Kitts.
