Is there anywhere I can find 20th century BMD records for Trinidad and Jamaica? Our granddaughter's father was of West Indies origin but we have had no contact with him for more than 10 years. I would like to trace his parents' births so that she can see that she does have two sets of grandparents and find where that came from. DaveT

20th century BMD records of Trinidad are held at the Registrar General office. These records are neither microfilmed nor digitized. Therefore any queries will have to be done in person or via mail. -----Original Message----- From: caribbean-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:caribbean-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of DaveT Sent: Sunday, December 13, 2009 8:30 PM To: caribbean@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [Carib] Birth, Marriage and Death records "DaveT" <davet@mtomlinson.freeserve.co.yuk> wrote in message news:hg4060$rvh$1@aioe.org... > Is there anywhere I can find 20th century BMD records for Trinidad and > Jamaica? > > Our granddaughter's father was of West Indies origin but we have had no > contact with him for more than 10 years. See Ruth's post. Also if you are not the person involved they want a letter of authorisation. Bit difficult if the person is dead. The records from 1920 have been digitised. I don't know the position with records before that date. There was one case reported in the newspapers about a guy born before 1920. He had a hard time proving he was born. It is always a good idea to check with high commissions and embassies. With so many migrants everywhere, they are accustomed to doing this type of work. H
