    3. Merci, madame........I knew my high school french would come in handy one day, besides travelling in Quebec, lol. Unfortunately, I only have one name which was from Haiti and not much information about him. Touzalin.........who came to Jamaica in 1795 or so but that could be a misspelling of Toussalin, Toussaint......they landed in a British part of the Island. Cheers from Canada........Heather "Augusta Elmwood" <augustae@bellsouth.net> wrote in message news:mailman.832.1269147213.2664.caribbean@rootsweb.com... ... it is FINALLY online. According to messages I've received, only certain registers are online. I suppose more will be made available as they are digitized and prepared. Here's the link: http://anom.archivesnationales.culture.gouv.fr/caomec2/recherche.php?territoire=SAINT-DOMINGUE Click the down arrow in the COMMUNE window and a list of towns will appear. Make your choice. Then click the down arrow in the TYPE d'ACTE window... you will have a choice of acts, or you can choose the TABLES (Indexes), either annual ones or 10-year ones, sorted by type of act. There are some other choices, like AFFRANCHISEMENTS, JUDGEMENTS, DIVORCES, etc. available, but they may not all apply for all communes/towns. You can also enter a year in the ANNEE window, or a time span (in the OU ENTRE ---- ET ---- windows). If you want to browse the registers from the beginning, just leave everything blank after the COMMUNE. I just got the news and have not had a chance to play around with the system very much, but it seems to be user friendly. Merci Mille Fois to the Archives d'Outre-mer ! Ladies & Gentlemen, get out your dictionaries and start your engines ! The long-awaited day has arrived !! Bonnes et fructueuses recherches ! Augusta Sleepless in New Orleans :-)
