Hi Listers The "Crook-Boy" designation has me going! So I am Googling and in B.W.Higman's "Slave Populations of the British Caribbean 1807-1834" He provides data on job designations amongst slaves in Trinidad See this link: http://books.google.com/books?id=pGv5dC2hDV8C&pg=PA568&lpg=PA568&dq=%22crook +boy%22+caribbean&source=bl&ots=6FZHsMMzSR&sig=_RbQUS5quEwrBzSnEeDIEJHaXyE&h l=en&ei=QxG9S93YDIGB8gbkkeWqCA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0C AsQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q&f=false (page 568) where we find our "crook boy" crook corp and crook mules..... which suggests that so far we haven't got the Crook thing right! As you will see there are herders and all sorts of job designations which seem to exclude interpretation of "Crook-Boy" as a young boy running around with a Shepherd's Crook..... and so it goes... I will endeavour to persevere here and find an answer! Stay tuned Cod
