I wrote about a week ago about some Danish West Indies records available at http://www.footnote.com/ Right now, I’m going through a group of records titled: “St. Thomas Commission for the Registration of the Free Blacks: Register of Free Black Children, 1831–32.” This record is a census of the Free Blacks and contains name, age, religion, place of birth so it is useful information in a population that is sometimes not well represented in the usual records. Some of the downsides of these records are that they are in Danish, there is no index, and some people in the records don't have a last name. If you think you may have ancestors in this records, send me the pertinent information and I’ll see what I can find while going through these records. Dante
I am searching or any mention of the above names..I know that Alexander Magruder was in Barbados in 1650-52, then moved on to Maryland.. Woodroofs show up in Virginia, Georgia and Tennessee but I cannot connect any of them farther bck thn 1800 but believe a common ancestor may have spent time somewhere in the Carribean.. Ferdinand is a name that shows up repeatedly as a middle name in the family ad I am searching for it's origin.. Thanks for any help Betty Brown _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail: Trusted email with powerful SPAM protection. http://clk.atdmt.com/GBL/go/196390707/direct/01/
