I have almost finished reading the book: When Banana Was King: The Life and Times of Jamaican "Banana King" Alfred Constantine Goffe (Paperback) http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/9768202238/ref=tag_dpp_yt_edpp_rt?ie=UTF8&s=books#tags It is packed full of information on the major players in the banana industry in St Mary and Portland. Names such as GOFFE, SILVERA, CLEMETSON, WHITE, LINDO, WALKER, MCGREGOR, and MAGNUS etc. Also talks of a mixed race CLEMETSON who was an officer in the World War 1 and is buried on the Somme. This would make him the second non white officer I have heard of from the Caribbean. Rory
