    2. The Beinecke Lesser Antilles Collection at Hamilton College appears to have his letters. There's a book by that name on Google books for those who can view them. Happy hunting in June, all. Captain Christopher Jeaffreson (d. 1 August 1725, Dullingham House, Cambridgeshire) was the son of Colonel John Jeaffreson, one of the three partners who established the English colony on St Kitts, the first permanent one in the West Indies. Christopher spent just five years on his estate there (I have visited the area twice), as a very active sugar-planter, merchant and politician, but after his return to England he acted as the Colony's Commissioner He also became the political agent to Sir William Stapleton, the Captain-General of the Leeward Islands, who incidentally was responsible for the transfer of Tortola from Dutch to British rule. One of Jeaffreson's descendants was elected to be US President Thomas Jefferson Peter Moll Tortola, BVI

    3. Thanks, Laura I believe that Google has digitised "A Young Squire of the 17th Century", containing Colonel Jeaffreson's diary It is long out of print, but when I was in the UK I borrowed a copy from Suffolk County Library.through the interlibrary loan service. The first batch of settlers on St Kitts were all from Framlingham in Suffolk..
