    3. Hi Listers, Further to the information on the Moravian Records from the West Indies - FHL INTL Film 1162485 Item 5. There is NO detailed information on individuals in the 13 pages. It is about the condition and collection of Moravian records in the West Indies. The only people mentioned are the Moravian Bishops, Ministers, and their wives visited on the various Islands in the mid 1960's. No records are included but there is a Bibliography of Moravian and other records which may be of interest. "A SELECT BIBLIOGRAPHY E.C. Baker. A GUIDE TO RECORDS IN THE LEEWARD ISLANDS. Basil Blackwell: Oxford, 1965. 102 pp. Contains descriptions of the Antigua and St. Kitts records which are now located in Bethlehem. M.J. Chandler. A GUIDE TO RECORDS IN BARBADOS. Under the joint Sponsorship of the Government of Jamaica and the University of the West Indies. 510 pp. The most comprehensive treatment available concerning records Brad record-keeping in the Caribbean." I have seen the last item on a LDS film - very long and detailed. The E.C. Baker item is of interest as apparently his Windward Guide has reference to some CROPPERANA on St. Vincent. Some ended up it the UWI in Mona, Jamaica - the rest unknown. Jim C.

    2. Richard Allicock
    3. From Eastman's Onlline Genealogy Newsletter for May 19, 2003. - Spammer Arrested, Charged With Felony Howard Carmack, the notorious "Buffalo Spammer" accused of sending more than 825 million unsolicited e-mails from illegal EarthLink accounts, has been arrested and arraigned in New York on four felony and two misdemeanor counts. New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer heralded the case as the first criminal prosecution of a spammer under New York's six-month-old identity-theft statute. "Spammers who forge documents and steal the identity of others to create their e-mail traffic will be prosecuted," Spitzer said at a press conference. Attorney General Spitzer stated that his office will seek jail time for this spammer. 2. Richard Allicock
    3. Hi James. Thanks. Every detail helps, beginning with knowing what is where. I was hoping for a more detailed Chronological and Geographical break-down. But this is a start, and it is clear that most/all the Moravian Church records from 1730-1968, for St. Croix, St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Antigua and Barbados (the last probably in micro-film) is in the city of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Moravian Church Archives. Since much of the older documents can be expected to be fragile and would not have stood up to even a few uses, I wonder if the Bethlehem folks went ahead and micro-filmed the most fragile ones? I hope they did it seeing that they have had it for over 30 years. This would make access that much easier. The math in regard to the boxes, comes out at 11kgs. per box. Not unreasonable, since I am sure at least half the weight would be of the box itself. Thanks again. Please let me know if the lecture/photocopy that you have includes more Geographical and Chronological detail/breakdowns. Cheers!!!! 3. Hello, I am deep into the Streeper family research. My research tells me that an Isaac Streaper went to the West Indies in 1796. He would have been about 19 years old. He may have had some money to buy property. His family was of Quaker heritage and of German/Dutch/Palatine descent. Later, his brother, Richard, is a confectioner, not a baker, at the port of Philadelphia. It sounds like he handled sugar. How could I learn more about Isaac? Streeper can be spelled many ways. This branch of the family spelled it Streaper most often. Thanks so much for any help or advice that anyone can give. Sincerely yours, Joan Higgins

Jan .21 ANDREAS, a Negro from Ibo, Guinea, W. Africa; he was presented to Spangenberg by Thomas Noble of New York; d Apr. 13, 1779 in Bethlehem. MAGDALENA, a Negress from Popo, Guinea. 3. I use hotmail, and it checks any incoming mail with attachment with McAfee, it will quarantine anything with a virus, germ or cold, and send me a message. It also allows me to crate a 'contact list' for the people I want to hear form, the rest goes into the'junk folder' so I can weed/delete or designate a 'contact' It also scans my outgoing mail with an attachment and notify the receiver with a McAfee note that it has been checked and is virus-free. 1. Re: Martinique & St.Lucia - SYLVESTRE, BERNEZ & ALCEE
    2. RossignolP
    3. Bonjour Hard for me to explain in english. I shall try. Tables décennales : for ech town or parish lists in alphabetic order (1st letter) of acts (Birth or Batism, marriage, death or burial) with type of act (N = naisssance birth, M mariage, D = Décès death or S sépulture burial), the name with or without first name, the date (DDMMYYYY) and the page were the record is (folio Recto or Verso sometimes). One list covers 10 years. One film of tables décennales covers often 2 or 3 or more towns or parishes. In french colonies (West Indies for example) the registers were written by catholic priest only before Révolution. In France l'état civil (civic state) starts in 1792. In West Indies later : Guadeloupe 1793 and Martiniquie 1812 (or around) because the english occupation. Year 1776 Louis XVI asked for all the old registers be copied and the copies sent to Versailles. But... hurricanes and others earthquake had destroyed some registers. The priests who must copy the acts have or not do the job. It is the reason why registers of Guadeloupe are oldest than those of Martinique. You can look at http://members.aol.com/GHCaraibe/geo/communes.html Sorry this page is in french. If somebody could translate... So for a search you must start with films of tables décennales, note the pages of acts and go to th film containing the acts. What are the problems encountered ? About Tables décennales which were made years after the copies of registers. 1° Some acts are missing in the tables particularly for free colored people (Remenber the registers do not have acts of slaves) 2° The tables were made fom some registers now losts and the pages' number is not corresponding to the registers available. 3° Some names are mispelled, even the first letter 4° You must look at each part of names eg : REVERCHON de LA CROIX look at R, D, L and C If the person you are looking for has only first names you have to look at each first letter eg : Uranie Pierre Moyse : look at U, P and M About Acts 1°) A lot of missing acts 2°) The copist had not copy all the act : lines are missing. 3°) The copist has replaced a name by an other 4°) The copist had tried to copy what he read without understandins the meaning. You must read aloud to understand. Last thing : In the films some pages are missing or unreadable I do not know the references of LDS films because they have been renumbered in the french Archives. After the acts you have to look at "notariat". Have a good time and go to Martinique or Aix en Provence in the "old european country" (:-((( Philippe Rossignol Dans l'article <19d.151c4849.2bf94063@aol.com>, PennyKilbane@aol.coma écrit : > >I think the "tables décennales" are the civic / state records (rather than >Church records), is this correct?
