    3. Message from the retired administrator of Carib-Gen..: The Caribbean Genealogy List on Rootsweb will be shut down along with all other mailing lists as of March 2 or 3rd 2020. Thereafter archives to that date will be searchable via the Ancestry Rootsweb system.Until Ancestry decides not to. I have tentative started a new mailing list: GenCaribbeanColonial@groups.io <mailto:GenCaribbeanColonial@groups.io> Groups.io is attracting a lot of the former lists from Rootsweb which after consolidation and some thoughtful reconstruction will open there. The location offers many interesting functions not available at the old Rootsweb sites including an internal Wiki, a photo library, and other possibilities Right now it remains to be seen if there are enough people who understand why mailing lists are superior for networking serious interactive topics such as Genealogy and history. Just try and have any sort of an extended conversation with important detail on Facebook or other sorts of sites. This changeover will take time and there will be no instant fix but it promises consistent operation with good security and modern goodies to enhance The rooms we use..Hope some of you come down and discuss your interests as time goes on this Spring.     3. G'Day Cod, Seems to be still there to me here in Oz. Has been a long while since I chased my son's first wife's rellies in Barbados. However, there is still another brick wall for me concerning my wife's direct line that may or not be real there. Around 1852/3 William Glanville (previously a convict guard in Western Oz) wrote a short pencil, undated, letter to his daughters here in Oz from, we think back in UK, saying he was going to a job as an 'Overseer' in Barbados and would write again when he got there, but we do not know anything about him from then on. Biggest missing bit about William is his age, he joined UK Army and was overseas for 1841 census and a guard on ship with convicts coming to Oz in 1851. I have inspected all of the records/paybooks for the 47th Regt at Kew in England, but there is no recorded age in any of them. He was briefly in Barbados with the regiment in 1843/4 where his wife's second husband William Duck in same Regt died. She then followed William Glanville back to England where they married in 1844 (her third marriage to a soldier in 47th Regt). So... Does anyone reading this know of either a William Glanville taking such a job in Barbados around that time or any descendants he may have created there? Just another straw cast into the cyberspace wind hoping someone new to my brick wall can peep over it.
