I've "rescued" an old photograph of W. C. and Laura E. SIMPSON which was taken at the Burt Hodson Studio in Sacramento or Oakland, CA. The photograph is dated 25 Dec 1914 and includes their two oldest children, a daughter and younger son (believed to be Ethel Frances and William L. SIMPSON). The photograph includes a message on the back "A Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year" which was given to Mr. & Mrs. H. HURTER. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding this family: Rev. William Carl or Carrel SIMPSON was b. 19 Feb 1873 in Santa Paula, CA to parents William Malachi E. SIMPSON (1844-1910 or 1919) and Emily Francis or Frances BROWN (1853 or 1854-1928). William was one of 7 children born to this couple including, Estella Viola; William Carrel; Mildred Eunice; Ella Emily; Ida L.; Belle Rachael; and Zilfa or Zilpha SIMPSON, all born between 1871 and 1883. He married Laura Effie or A. ALLBRIGHT (1886-1969) and he died 13 Nov 1949 in Sacramento, CA and is buried in the East Lawn Memorial Park in Sacramento, CA. Laura Effie or A. ALLBRIGHT was b. 11 Feb 1886 in Nebraska to parents John William ALLBRIGHT or ALBRIGHT (1840-1910) and Esther Virginia HARLAN (1853-1913). Laura was one of three children born to this couple, she had two sisters, Lois ALLBRIGHT (b, 1882) and Mary Reese ALLBRIGHT (1884-1960). William and his first wife Sarah Virginia SANDERS (1841-1880) also had three children including, George W.; Mary Virginia; and Elizabeth ALLBRIGHT all born between 1860 and 1866. Laura married William Carl SIMPSON and she died 15 May 1969 in Sacramento, CA and is buried in the East Lawn Memorial Park in Sacramento, CA. Ethel Frances SIMPSON was b. 18 Nov 1905 in California and married Ernest Norman HEARST (1904-1994) and she died 11 Sept 1997 in Sacramento, CA and is buried in the Colfax Cemetery in Colfax, CA. William L. SIMPSON was b. abt 1912 in California to parents William Carl SIMPSON and Laura Effie SIMPSON. William was one of 4 children born to this couple including, Ethel Frances; William L.; Burton Edward; and Evangeline E. SIMPSON all born between 1906 and 1921. William died 30 Sept 1921 in Santa Cruz Co., CA.
