    3. Hello Janet, In case you don't have the exact dates, try this website http://www.vitalsearch-ca.com/ There is another California Death Index, but it's from 1940 to 1997. http://vitals.rootsweb.com/ca/death/search.cgi Once you have the county of death, you can write to that county courthouse for a death certificate. You can find the addresses, fee, and probably form on http://vitalrec.com/ . The state turned over their records to the individual counties at the first of the year. Anyone can get a death certificate for anyone. It will be stamped across the front "INFORMATIONAL - NOT A VALID DOCUMENT TO ESTABLISH IDENTITY" . This is in open block letters, so you can read everything on the certificate. - You may want to telephone the county to see if their fees are current. I sent for one awhile back and their fee went up $1.00, so I had to re-send. The burial place should be on the death certificate. I suggest you then go to the yellow pages to find a library near the place of death to obtain an obituary. I hope this helps. 1. LINVILLE Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph which is identified as the sister of Earl LINVILLE. The photograph was taken at a studio in Salem, Oregon, likely sometime in the early 1900's with the woman in the photograph probably in her 20's at the time. In addition notations on the back of the photograph also state that Earl LINVILLE is "Freda's Dad". The photograph also appears to have been a gift "from Pansy to Delus" which causes me to wonder if this is a photograph of Pansy LINVILLE? Based on limited research and thanks to the assistance of a LINVILLE Family Researcher I was able to find the following information regarding this LINVILLE Family: Earl Isaac LINVILLE was the son of James & Fannie LINVILLE. James Thomas LINVILLE was b. July 1850 in KY and his wife Fannie LINVILLE (maiden name unknown) was born Sept 1852 in MO. The couple had a total of 5 children with three still living in 1900, those three were: Earl Isaac LINVILLE, b. June 1882/83 in OR, died 7 May 1952 in Contra Costa Co. CA Ethel E. LINVILLE, b. Mar 1884 in OR (married but had no children) Pansy V. LINVILLE, b. Mar 1886 in OR (believed to be the woman in the photograph) Earl Isaac LINVILLE married Orla COX and together they had the following children: Elden Lionel LINVILLE, b. 13 Jan 1916 in OR, died 5 Jul 1992 in Mendocino Co. CA Orvan Earl LINVILLE, b. 12 Jun 1917 in OR, died 22 Mar 1991 in Sacramento Co. CA Delman Leverne LINVILLE, b. 3 Apr 1920 in OR, died 15 Aug 1990 in Sacramento Co. CA Myrle LINVILLE, b. 18 Mar 1922 in Placer Co. CA Bonnie LINVILLE, b. 20 Mar 1924 in Placer Co. CA Freda LINVILLE, b. 20 Feb 1926 in Sacramento Co. CA 1920 Census of Aumsville, OR: Earl I. LINVILLE, age 36, born OR, parents born KY/MO Orla L. LINVILLE, wife, age 25, born OR, parents born CA/MO Elden L. LINVILLE, son, age 3 years + 10 months, born OR Orbin E. LINVILLE, son, age 2 years + 5 months, born OR I'm hoping to locate someone from this LINVILLE Family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    2. Bev Morris
    3. Hi! - I'm new to the list. I'm looking for any information on John A. SMITH, born 9 Jun 1885 in CA; died 1963 in Placer Co., CA. The California death index gives date of death as 24 Mar 1963 and Social Security gives date Feb 1963. From other sources, he is the son of William SMITH born Indiana and Mary Elioza QUIJADO born 1848 in Mexico. He is probably the brother of my daughter's 2nd great-grandmother, Bertha Ellen SMITH or Ellan B. who married 1st Lallie C. FERNANDEZ; 2nd William Leroy OUSEY. If anything sounds remotely familiar, please contact me. I have just started researching this line and family. I will be happy to share the scant info I've found. Thank you, Bev

    1. STUART Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Maggie STUART of Como, Arkansas which was taken at the Alex Holmes Studio in St. Paul, MN. The photograph was probably taken in 1895 with Maggie appearing to be in her teens at the time. In addition to her name, someone has written the following message on the back of the photograph. "A good friend, Maggie STUART who lived on Como, AR. She went to Idlewild, California, I did not hear of her again. 1895" then "L.F., Aug 7 1956". Wondering if Maggie might have been attending school in St. Paul when the photograph was taken. I'm hoping to locate someone from Maggie's family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
