Anyway, it is in regards to the Surnames "McKeithan and McRee". Please review, and if you can help or use the information, it would be great. Since you seem to be the most active, I'm sending this to you. I descend from Gilbert McKeithan who first appeared in a New Hanover record in 1753, then married in Winyah, SC in 1763, then reappeared in Bladen Co and moved to Brunswick Co where he died. He seems to be of some kin to Donald McKeithan 1739 emigrant from Scotland (I have a record that proves this but need to have it reduced before I can scan it and put it online.) Anyway, I have a great deal of info on the early McKeithans including Dougald McKeithan of SC and his son Thomas McKeithan (his wife Deborah had remarried James McRee by 1750) as well as the descendants of Donald McKeithan 1739 emigrant who probably was Dougald's brother. There are numerous records that indicate a connection of some kind between these two sets of McKeithans. However Dougald was in SC as early as 1732. I think Gilbert was probably a son of Thomas McKeithan but can't prove it at this point. Perhaps the McRee records would be of help. Know any McRee researchers? I am uploading scans of important documents (originals) to my page at http://www.geocities.com/heartland/plains/8008/ The 1750 will of Dugald McKeithan is there - proves his father Donald as well as brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. To go directly to this page, just add records.htm to the end of the above url. But there is other McKeithan info elsewhere on the site. I have quite a bit of Cumberland Co research if it will help anyone. Not all families - only the ones that related to the families that I had an interest in. I just don't have space or time to put it on my page. If you think this would be of help to others, feel free to pass it on to the list since I can't.
