Richmond County, North Carolina. Pursuant to the annexed Order we the undersigned have proceeded to divide the Negroes belonging to the estate of John Gordon, decÂ’d, among the different legatees. We found to be divided a Negro woman named Betty and her four children. We divided them in two lots, viz. 1st lot Betty and her oldest daughter Nancy, valued at five hundred and fifty dollars. The 2nd lot Mary, Caroline and Jenny three youngest valued at five hundred and twenty five dollars. There were six Legatees, viz. Mrs. Margaret Gordon, John McKenzie and his wife Isabella Gordon, and Alexander Gordon which were of full age. The other three, viz. Effy Gordon, Sally Ann Gordon and William Gordon were minor heirs. The first lot of Negro were drawn by the three minor heirs, that is Negroes Betty and Nancy. The second lot was drawn by those heirs which were of age. That is Negroes Mary, Caroline and Jenny and they have to receive in addition the sum of twelve dollars and a half from the minor heirs, it being the difference in valuation of lots. [signed] John C.
