    3. I just got back from Scotland and could not find any information. I visited the Clan Donald Centre on the Isle of Skye, the Register House and the Archives in Edinburgh and I was told that all the old births, christenings and marriages have already been microfilmed and put on computer by the LDS, so you practically don't have to leave home for that information. I was told that I needed a name (and a name not as common as James McDonald!), a date of death and a place of death before I could even begin to do any research. Everything they have is filed by parish. I was very disappointed since I didn't have that information. However, two good things came out of that: I now have a good reason to go back to Scotland AND I had a wonderful trip. Scotland is absolutely the best. The people were friendly, the sites historical, the landscape beautiful. I'd go back in a minute! My advice - go to Scotland and soak up the atmosphere - save the research for when you really have the right information. Lynne
