Flora McDonald Academy is still there. It is still in use a an educational facility. The Academy hosts the annual Flora McDonald Highland Games, every fall. Rumor has it that Flora McDonald's sons are buried there. Guess you all know there was a Flora MacDonald College in Red Springs, NC (Robeson County). Think the college actually started at the location of Centre Church between Red Springs and Maxton. My great, great Grandfather, John Hughes, is buried at Centre Church. We think his father was probably Daniel Hughes from what was then Richmond County (part of which I think is now Scotland County in the Centre Church area).
