If I'm not mistaken, Alexander McDonald was the husband of the famous Flora McDonald, who helped Bonnie Prince Charlie escape to Skye after the debacle at Culloden. Alexander and Flora organized the Tory faction in North Carolina. They lived near Cameron Hill, which is now in west Harnett County. Alexander -- probably the major in your list -- was captured. He somehow returned to Scotland, where his wife joined him after the war.
