Wow! I am so excited with all the replies so far. Thanks so very much for the leads. Jerry, I have lots of information on the McSwains, and the McGilvary's are distantly kin to the McKenzies here. I will have to get my mother's information. She has been researching the family for years (she is 86) and has lots of info. I will send what I have as soon as I can get it. There are lots of Scot descendents here in MS. We also have information on the Carter family. My mother restored a hewn log cabin built in 1846 by Isaac Carter and his wife Sarah. My grand-father William David McKenzie bought the land where the cabin stood in 1910. You can see a picture of the cabin at www.petalchamber.com.
