Once things are forwarded and forwarded again I have no idea who to try to 'reply' to so will all the whole group. I've seen things of this sort before---what does the +AD4 before the lines of the message mean and how did it get there? In the address line '+ADw-CAPE-FEAR- SCOTS-L+AEA-rootsweb.com+ADr-' why is the +AEA used instead of @? I have all sorts of things happen on the computer that I don't understand and when I see something 'strange' I wonder about it. 3. Larry, You may or may not have this, but since this reference is the only one of Jacob Cochraham in my book, OUR NATIVE HEATH, I will share it with the list. Enjoy, Myrtle Bridges http://home.att.net/~hbridges/myrtle.htm 1779 The said Jacob Cochraham came into Court and being first sworn by the Holy Evangelists of God sayeth that before the decease of the said Alexander McPherson the deponent heard the said Alexander McPherson announce, declare and say that Daniel McPherson was his first cousin and the nearest of kin to him; and that as such, in case the said Daniel outlived him, the said Alexander McPherson, he the said Daniel should inherit all his estate, the said Daniel being then present and the said deponent saith that the said Daniel then lived with the said Alexander McPherson for the space of two years and ever was acknowledged by the deceased and deemed to be the deceased blood relation and first cousin. Ordered that the foregoing affidavit be registered in the Register’s Office of this County. Richmond County Court Mins. 1786-1792 CR.082.301.2

    3. I'm searching for information on Samuel McCoy/McKay born around 1730's in Scotland. He supposedly settled the Cape Fear area around the mid 1740's. I would appreciate any information you may have on him or any other McCoy/McKays in the same area around that time. Thanks in advance, Wendy McKay Phillips

I'm ASSUMING (not shouting just emphasizing) that they might have come up the Cape Fear River to Fayettesville (Cross Creek) and then down the Cross Creek - Pee Dee Road. There was a Cochan working in the land Office in Wilmington about 1750ish. 1. GEDDIE 1772
    2. Lawrence Geddie
    3. Seeking Cape Fear Geddie's c.1772-1800, particularly children of Alexander Geddie of Scotland, whose son James Daniel Geddie with spouse Ann McKeithan migrated to North Carolina 1772. Known Scottish Geddie locations: Banff; Speymouth; Fife. The Geddie family is oft-married to McPhail. Questioned variant spellings: Gedy, Gaddy, Geddes, Geddins (have found no link to date of connection to Getty or Gatty, who I've been informed may derive from Delgetty/Delgatty). A mystery is that James Daniel may have landed with "two brothers," who are currently unknown and of course drive a stake in a strong genealogy. James Daniel's participation in Revolution and his son "Big" John Geddie, Sr's subsequent migration to Cumberland County is documented. My take on the Geddie ancestry, as currently known, is located at GeddieWorld site: http://www.booksphere.com/gedworld/ Many thanks, Lawrence in Georgia
