1. Grissella Stewart
    2. A relative just found a booklet about Neil S. Stewart. It connects him to Grissella Stewart. It says that he was the only son of Hector Stewart and Mary Shaw Stewart. I have a Drewry Stewart married to Mary Haigwood or Haygood that is somehow connected to this Neill Stewart. He was born about 1818 so he would be the right age for Neill's brother but the book says Hector was the only son. Can anyone help me. The name of the booklet is Neill Shaw Stewart. Esq. A Biographical Study 1820 - 1889 by Colie E. Rock, Erwin, N. C. Would also like to know where I could purchase another copy of this book. Thanks, Marie

    3. If you haven't discovered it the Argyll Colony Plus is a good resource for the Scottish immigrants into the Cape Fear area. Vol 10 #1 starts with the will of John Clark in Duplin County, N.C. April the 16th 1767 and continues to give lots of information about his descendants. His descendants are continued in the next issue and then Volume 12 #3 picks up again with his granddaughter, Elizabeth Jane Clark m Hardy Hunter and continues with their descendants. Because this is my line, I recommend it and would be glad to hear from other descendants. Ruth Burns

    1. Check out Scottish and Celtic Festivals: NC
    2. Hello Everyone, I thought you might be interested in this. Please note as you scroll down to the Flora Macdonald Highland Games that this event which is held in Red Springs, North Carolina will be held the first weekend in October, So now is the time to make plans to attend. Also, note the other events in your area as they need your support also. If you would like information on your particular area/State and cannot get it on your Browser, contact me directly and I will see what I can do to help. How is the cemetery project coming along in your area? Now is the time to go, before the wildlife gets there first, and while it is still cold. I have a great deal of the cemetery at the Presbyterian Church in Lumber Bridge, N. C. completed and will provide that to you as soon as I get my film developed. I don't have a Camcorder. The best way to do it is by VCR CamCorder. You can do a large area in 20 to 30 minutes and transcribe it at home. If you can't transcribe the information, send it to me and maybe I can help out there also. Just contact me directly by email and we will work something out. Click here: Scottish and Celtic Festivals: NC Have a nice weekend. 2. Carolyn Burgess Knott
    3. Does anyone have any idea how to obtain a copy of the book: "History of Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church"? Mt. Carmel is in Richmond Co, on the Montgomery Co. line. This little book was published in 1985. Cannot recall the author's name. I really need to purchase a copy of this book. Mount Carmel was one of the very early Scottish Churches in NC. 1. Check out ISTG - Ships Passenger Lists
    2. Hello, I would encourage everyone to look at this list on the Rootsweb site. They have done an excellent job. When you scan through the Ships lists, be sure to scroll on down past the initial list as some of them give information about the passengers themselves. Also, this site lists the names in Alphabetical order for your ease and a cross reference to the ships name. Interesting! Click here: ISTG - Ships Passenger Lists http://istg.rootsweb.com/index1.html Thanks John

How about lists of men sent to England to prisons? How would one go about finding these? Also, are there any records of land and property that was seized from the people opposing the government in the mid to late 1600s? Thanks for the help. Sally Kasey --part0_919307995_boundary--

The records are indexed together for the entire country, so you don't have to know what county, or shire, they were from. Both Christenings and Marriages are listed. Of course there are many that are missing, but it's the first place you should start. If you are not able to visit a FHL, I go every week and would be glad to look up a name for a Christening or marriage....only a look-up, as I canno= t do research for you. If you do this, please do not write a long story or page....just list the names and give what dates and place you do know, or parents' name etc. For more recent records, vitals or census records, for a fee, you can sear= ch the Scottish records through the GRO: http://www.origins.net/GRO/ I personally have not accessed these records, but there are many folks on this list who have and will be willing to answers any questions you have.
