We believe he was born around 1830, however. We also have family lore about him teaching at University of Dublin and meeting Isabella when she was a student there...and then they eloped and she was disowned by her family. Not sure how true any of this is but at least some seems to be confirmed by you. We also have lore saying that he came from a Protestant family...some baptism documents possibly linked to him place him at Clonmore, Kilkenny, which seems odd for a protestant.
