    2. There were two Job Canhams. Job H. Canham born in 1866 married Minnie Hewitt. He was the son of Robert and Sarah Webb Canham. Robert was the son of Jonathan and Phebe Bailey Canham. Job William was born in England in 1843. He was the son of Jonathan and Phebe as well. I know that he died before 1903 but I don't know anything else about him. Family history has it that he went to Canada but I haven't found him there either. Jonathan was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Darkin Canham and Thomas was the son of Thomas and Ann Roper. Thomas and Ann were married in 1772 in Wicken,Cambridgeshire, England.

    3. Melanie, I just realized, you might be referring to "Charles Jobe Canham" <1841> rather than "Jobe Shadrack H. Canham" <1869>. Charles Jobe, who often went by "Jobe", married Mary Olroyd in 1863. 3. Hi Melanie Stark, As I recall, that line goes back to James Canham and Elizabeth Spooner. Which child do you come through? I am enjoying the 1841 census online at Ancestry.com and Ancestry's free birth and marriage Indexes. I've learned to find spouses' surnames by using the number (usually 3 digits) with the town and exact date in the advanced search. Very handy. 3. Carol Canham Harker, Jobe Shadrack is not my direct line, but I have done some research on him. You probably have this already, but here goes: I do not find Job(e) Shadrack H. Canham after his marriage to Minnie E. Hewitt on 18 Dec 1894. In 1880 he is in Franklin, Illinois with his mother and step-dad. I have not researched Minnie. His parents are Shadrack Canham and Mary Elizabeth Pearson (7 or 8 children); grandparents: John Canham and Pheobe Bailey (10 children + stepchildren). That is as far as I went. Others online show his gr-grandpts: Thomas Jr. Canham and Elizabeth Darken, and his gr-gr-grandpts: Thomas Canham and Anna Roper. 3. Hi Holly, I was hoping I would hear from you. How are things going? We had a long, hot summer, but the other day turned very cold very fast - even snow on the mountain! It's been rainy and cold ever since. I have TWO cats now. A stray came to visit through the door that was propped open two inches - she was so thin, poor thing. Without knowing her gender I called her "Little One", got her fixed and shots, and fattened up. She is still a small cat, but she has lots of meat on her bones now. "Tango" and Little One get along famously. They chase around the room like crazies, then groom one another, and if Little One could stay in one place long enough, they rest together. During this hot summer, the spiders decided to come indoors. Everyone had problem with them. And Little One became an instant hunter. Every time she saw a spider, she cried (she has a voice like she is talking to a neighbor who lived on another block, instead of to me), and I would get the broom and get the spider. This went on all summer. When the cold hit, the spiders left fast, and Little One decided that a cry every once in a while might bring them out again, so she cried for a couple days, then finally gave that up. I call her my proud hunter. Tango just looks on, hardly amused at this. He is well and huge as ever at about 25 pounds. It is a healthy weight, as Maine Coone cats can grow to 30+ pounds. He uses his paw like a spoon, even to scoop up water from their bowl. He is a rough, tough cat, except when playing with Little One whom he adores. Then he is gentle but great fun. They keep me laughing. No more trouble with the spinal meningioma, and not much arachnoiditis recently, so that is a great blessing. Probable Cushing's disease. I was reading the Reader's Digest about a woman who has it, thinking that I had several of her symptoms. Then went online and they had a picture of a fat lady with Cushing's and I could pass for her double (fat-wise). The disease has a characteristic weight gain around the middle. So I am going in to see my doctor, and see if Dr. Karen Eddy is right. Recently I'm obtaining several genealogy documents on my Mom's German lines from Unterfranken, Bavaria. A kind genealogist is researching it for me for free, charging only the fees she pays to park, obtain access to books, and make copies. I can't beat that! Quite a gift. So fun to find additional new generations with all their children's dates too. Not much else new. How is you arm? I was worried about the pain you were having while moving your daughter some years ago. The lifting and driving became a bit irritating to your wrist and arm. Is it still causing problems with mobility? I hope not. I often think of you, tucked away in your rural setting, and me in the big city. How is your husband? I bet you are glad he is retired, what with all the political upheavals in the world now. So sad that Pres. Bush has to battle the anti-war people at home as well as the pro-war people world-wide. I hope everyone is healthy and happy in your neck of the woods. So good to hear again. 3. Hello all, I do not know much about my Canham ancestry. My 4G grandfather was Noah Clark(e) Canham, a brickmaker, who died 8 Feb 1878, in Ipswich, Suffolk, England, at the age of 80. He had married on 30 Sep 1823, in St Clements, Ipswich, Maria Spink, who gave him two children I am aware of: 1. Maria Canham (bap. 25 Jun 1826, St Clements, Ipswich), who married Charles Hart and was my 3G grandmother. 2. David Canham (bap. 3 Dec 1834, St Clements, Ispwich), a chemist, who married one Kate, and was the father of 2.1. Alice Boby Canham (bap. 28 Jan 1866, St Matthews, Ipswich); she appeard to have died young, as she is not on the 1881 census. Looking forward to hearing from you if you have any connection or information. Regards, Tim Robb

    1. [CANHAM] my progress on research
    2. Hi everyone I don't know what the problem was either, but I did receive a similar notification from another group I belong to. Anyway, just to update on what research I've been doing lately.....I haven't done any research in English parish registers since my last communication, but at that time I was successful in tracing our Canham ancestry back to the late 1600's. If any of the subscribers haven't received that information from me, I'd be glad to share my file with you. I have made some progress on tracking a couple of the Canadian Cannom lines....half brothers of my great great grandmother Martha Harriet Cannom Fairbrother. One was Obadiah Cannom who lived in London, Ontario. I met with his great grandson a few months ago who filled me in on those descendents. Still a few leads to follow up on. Plus, I found another brother, Jeremiah Cannom, who moved to Hamilton, Ontario and his daughter Diana Angold. There is still an Angold in the Hamilton phone book, so my next step is to contact them to see if they are a descendent. Hope everyone is doing well and having success with their own research! Jim McCallum
