    1. Strange things happen at the Genealogy Library
    2. Hello Everyone! This story is a little long but it's genealogy related. Please feel free to delete it if you want! : ) I just had the strangest thing happen and I had to share my experience. Let me start by saying I'm taking a genealogy class. At last weeks class the instructor was telling us that Hank Jones would soon be a guest speaker at the Society. He has written several books and has become know as the "Psychic Genealogist". She told of some of things that had happened to her and others. Stories similar to those documented by Hank Jones. Now begins the music to the theme to The Twilight Zone... All week long I have been putting off my research. Finally I get myself into the Library the last day of the week they were open (you know how that goes, something always happens and you don't get there). I was the only researcher. The nice volunteer lady was very helpful, answered my questions and went back to her own research. About an hour later a nice couple come in, get settled and start working. We pass each back and forth and chat a bit as we work. About 15 minutes go by and for some reason the man, the volunteer and I are all in the same isle. He is asking for information on the "BALE" surname. At this point I'm thinking "How weird" last month I was in here looking for BALE's for someone else! So I turned to the nice man and told him I'd just been researching BALES a few weeks ago and would be glad to help him find what I had looked up. Quickly I pulled out cemetery books, births, deaths and marriages and showed him what I had found the month before. As we looked through the books the man made copies and we chatted about the BALE family as they are quite prominent in the Napa Valley. I was telling him that there was a great RootsWeb Mailing List called NORCAL-L. I asked if he knew about it? He said he was on the NORCAL-L list. I replied really because I'm on it too! He said he signed his name KERGAN in Tuscon. I said I signed my name Jackie in Napa, CA. At this point I'm thinking here is someone all the way from Tuscon, AZ in Napa, CA researching a surname I'd just researched a few weeks ago and were on the same mailing list! This is really weird! Meanwhile the nice volunteer lady found the pioneer/family files on the BALES for the nice man. By this time I have truly enjoyed visiting with the man and his very nice wife and I am preparing, regretfully to leave. My daughter needs to be picked up from preschool so I'm gathering my things to leave as the volunteer lady brings out the BALE file. Here I am, needing to leave and I can't! I have to see what's in this BALE pioneeer/family file. As the man looks through the contents of the envelope, he comes across a full page newspaper sheet which is very yellowed with age. It has an article about the Grist Mill the BALE family built and ran in the 1800's. I'm thinking it's really old and yellowed. I wonder what the date is? So I take a look and it's dated March 10, 1963. That is the date of my birth! Now if you haven't heard the Twilight Zone Music yet I can't explain it to you! And talk about psychic genealogy! I must have been called there that day, why I'm not sure... Now I know I'm getting really old and yellowed! And I'm glad I got to meet KERGAN in Tuscon and his lovely wife! But I'm not quite so sure about the psychic experience... Jackie McKey Campbell In Napa, CA
