Thank you Evalou9999 for your very prompt reply to my today's posting. My mother language is French, I live in Switzerland. My questions : Is the 1856 location of Spanish Flat identic with the today's location of this town ? Or was the "old" Spanish Flat overflown when the Dam was built ? Were the mines in this area gold mines ? I am trying to determine in which of the 3 possible Spanish Flat Samuel YERSIN died. The only clue I have from an official document : 2 miners living in Spanish Flat, Emil Samuel Florent GARSONNAT and Julius LOCCOI, brought the news of his death to the Swiss Consul in San Francisco. There were gold mines in Spanish Flat, El Dorado as well as in Spanish Flat, Plumas. Seeing that Spanish Flat, Napa had mines too, I cannot eliminate this location. So far I have not been able to find any death records for this time period in El Dorado and in Plumas Counties. Do you know whether such records are available in Napa County ? Thank you very much for your help. Christiane hongler@bluewin.ch
