Dear all This is my first posting to this list : In October 1856 Samuel YERSIN, born 1830 in Switzerland, died in Spanish Flat, California. The document does not give any further details concerning the precise location. At this time there were at least 2 populated places called Spanish Flat in CA : in El Dorado County and in Plumas County. My questions : did Spanish Flat, Napa also exist in 1856 (prior to the construction of the Monticello dam). If so, where was it located ? Were there mines in the vicinity of the place ?
