Hello all, I'm going to be looking at the 1880 Napa Census sometime this week. Would anybody have a name I can look for? Be glad to take a peek! Jackie : )
Hello everyone! There are now six of us subscribed to the Napa County List. As it's a brand new list I think we are off to a great start. If you would like to post the surnames you are researching perhaps someone else signed on the list that can be of help. I live in Napa and occasionally go to both the public library and the genealogy library. So far I've had pretty good luck with obits in the newspapers. Would anyone like me to look for an obit for you? Hopefully the list will grow as the year moves on! Thanks for joining and I hope you find what your looking! Jackie Campbell CANAPA-L List Owner

I just wanted to announce that a new Rootsweb list has been started for genealogical discussion & research focusing on Solano County, California - CASOLANO. To subscribe, just send the word "subscribe" as the only word in the body of a message with no subject to "casolano-l-request@rootsweb.com" (mail) or "casolano-d-request@rootsweb.com" (digest). Hi, I am glad to see this new list. I live in Juneau, AK, but was just able to spend a day in the Napa Valley Genealogical and Biographical Society and a few hours at the Napa Library just a couple of weeks ago. Wish I could move both up here!!! Four lines of my dad's family lived in Napa starting in the late 1800's. John Henry STAHR/STARR emigrated there from Canada and married Ida/Idella Johnston on 29th of September, 1886. Idella was supposedly born in Napa. I am still trying to find out if she is the daughter of James Wesley Johnston on Yountville (who did have a daughter named Idella). My FRASH's emmigrated from Germany and were on the 1880 census. The Balthazar DARMS moved to Napa in 1883 from Sauk Co. WI but had emmigrated to there from Switzerland around 1850. Some of the related lines from marriages are: STARR - BOLTON FRASH - STIEFEL, APPINGER, WELLS, BOSSINGER DARMS - LINDER, SCHMIDT, HAAS I would love to contact anyone researching these families.
