Hi, I'm looking for information on my great grandfather - Almond Hartwell - who worked as a boatman/pilot on the Rideau Canal System in Ontario, Canada and/or possibly on the Great Lakes. He would have worked between 1847-1900? He was born in the Newboro, Ontario, Canada area. Last time in Ontario Census 1871. Had a son named Arthur Miller Hartwell, b. 1875, d. 1955 who was also a pilot on the Rideau Canal System, and I believe worked out of the Perth, Ontario area. I would appreciate any information on Almond Hartwell that anyone can give me, or if there is another area/avenue that I might check.
