Could be the Erewash Canal or the Nottingham Canal There are houses not far from the canal at many points. Can't remember the names of many of the locks. As a child my sister - who was a very strong swimmer - would swim from lock to lock, she would threaten me not to tell my parents - of course they knew because her hair stank of the canal - she still blamed me.
