Hi Everyone, I'm new to your list, and also new to canals. I've been working on my family tree for some months now and have just received a copy of my great great grandparents' marriage certificate. Alfred Edwards and Sarah Hazlewood were married at the Parish Church of St. James, Wolverhampton on 11th December 1898. Alfred's father is shown as William Edwards, Boatman. Basically that is all the information I have so far! I've tried to find the family on the 1881 Census but haven't had much joy. The closest I could find is an Alfred Edwards with son also called Alfred Edwards who were at the time on a barge on the canal at Bolehall and Glascote, Warwick. I have no idea at all whether this is the correct family but the age for Alfred Junior does seem to fit my great great grandfather. Perhaps his father was William Alfred Edwards, known as Alfred. Basically, I have no idea of where to go from here, and wondered whether anyone may be able to help me at all? Any information or assistance at all would be very gratefully received. Many thanks.
