I have two canal interests. I believe Owen Ryan was working on building the Delaware and Chesapeake canal in 1825 when my great-great-grandfather John Joseph Ryan was born in MD. John later moved to Berks County, PA and was a boatman on the Schuylkill Canal in Douglassville, PA. Many of the Irish boatman in this area are buried in the St. Paul's Mission Church cemetery in Douglassville and I do have a listing of some of the burials there.
