My gggrandfather, Matthew Robinson, was born in 1815 somewhere in England. I do not know when he came to the United States. I found him on the 1850 Census from Mercer Co. PA, Pymatuning Twop. His occupation is listed as a Boat Builder. By 1860 he was living in Delphos Ohio and was a Boat Builder and Canal Boat operator on the Miami Canal between Delphos and Toledo Ohio. He had a drydock in Spencerville, where he was burned to death while repairing a canal boat. I am assuming he came from a family of boat builders, and wonder if anyone recognizes the name. Diana S.
