Hello all I am a new subbed member starting my search for the waterborne side of my family. In 1881 my gt grandparents were living in Attercliffe Cut, Sheffield. They were William ELVIDGE b Eagle, Lincs and Mary Ann nee KIRBY b Spalding, Lincs. William was working in a steel mill. There is a family story that Mary Ann`s grandfather [Duncan KIRBY] was a captain [master] who was lost when his ship [barge] sank. Has anyone seen any of these names in any records anywhere please.
