John Harrison was born in Ireland around 1814 and worked on the Erie Canal in the 1830s and/or 40s. He married Eliza (Elizabeth) Lindsay and family legend says he worked for her father on the canal. She was from County Armagh, Ireland and her parents were probably George and Mary Lindsay. They all lived in Oneida Co., NY.
