My ancestors lived and work on the Erie canal. At one time, Mary and Henry Hulsaver lived on a barge called the New Brunswick. (about 1850?-1877) Before that, Henry's parents, Henry and Catherine Hulsaver worked on the canal as boaters. Does anyone know where I might find a directory of barge names and names of people who work on the canal in the early 1800s?
