Hi List Today whilst abstacting baptism records from Long Buckby parish records I came across the Occupation of Boat Conductor. There are two families the Threshers and the Thompsons some of the baptismal records state boatman others had boat conductor. I have never seen this before and wondered if anybody else had and could give me an explanation.
