Hello Eileen.. My grfthr. Thomas PEARCE, 1869-1938, was a Lock Master and Toll Tax Collector with the Birmingham Canal Co. and lived in a house beside the lock near Dudley, Worcester. I believe he and a brother owned several boats. I wonder if you might have come across him in your book? Cheers, James.
