Hi List, I know the Medway and Thames Rivers aren't Canals, but I'm hoping that someone may have a link with the family I'm researching anyhow! I'm looking for the KEMP family, who were Watermen/Bargemen from around 1800 up to the 1930's, between Tonbridge in Kent, and London. I have the names of 2 boats-"Albion" and "Borstal", both of which were registered in Rochester, Kent. If anyone recognises any of this, I'd be very grateful if you could get in touch! Best Wishes, Nicola
Hi Nicola: Have you looked at the Watermen & Lightermen Index? It will not have information on boats, but may extend your family. I have both these and "proper" canal families, and found it very useful; the records for most apprentices lead on to places of baptism. Regards, Gillian. -----Original Message----- From: Nicola Ward [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, 23 August 2000 22:05 To: [email protected] Subject: [CANAL-PEOPLE] Medway-Thames, England Hi List, I know the Medway and Thames Rivers aren't Canals, but I'm hoping that someone may have a link with the family I'm researching anyhow!
