    1. [CANAL-PEOPLE] Samuel GRAY/GREY - of Fishlake.

    3. I am a new member to this list - and looking for my gt.gt.grandfather, Samuel GRAY (or GREY) a "Boatman" in the 1851 census. He came from Fishlake, near Thorne, near Doncaster, but was not "at-home" in the 1851 census, with his wife, Sarah, and three children, Eliza(1833), Samuel(1836), and Emily(1841), so, I presume he could be anywhere on the River Don, Trent, or on other Canals. Emily is my Gt.grandmother, married my Gt.grandfather, George DYSON, at Halifax P.C. in 1866, on the Certificate, Samuel is described as "Sailor". (so Samuel could also have worked on the Calder & Hebble Canal.) Samuel was born in Fishlake in 1800, son of another Samuel GRAY and Hannah (LELAW). Any information on possible location of Samuel in 1851 census, or other GRAY family connections, would be very welcome. Gordon Dyson
