On at least one he is listed as a master boatman, and was accompanied by Kershaw Bates (mate). On at least one census he was listed as master of the "water lily" and was on board her on census night. I wondered if other members of his family were in the trade, his father was a coalminer so it seems a bit of a change. Though I suppose bargees carried coal, maybe thats the connection. Other surnames which may be present are KAY, CHILD, LISTER & HOLMES. Any information gratefully recieved. Thanks. Mike Wilkinson, Adelaide, South Australia.

My G G grandmother was a Sarah Anne Hunt who married an Isaac Roberts her father was JOHN Hunt master mariner who married Mary Parker. Sarah had 13 brothers and sisters all born between1830 and 1849 in the Pontefract registration district. John parents were Thomas Hunt and Hannah Pulman. I have lots of info on the family but would love to find someone else researching the same name. Regards Margaret Longley in Doncaster
