Being new to the list - I have to admit that I know very little about bargees and the way of life. Hoping someone can help. My g.grandmother became a widow in 1901 - at Wrenbury and was probably left the barge that her family lived on. She had 4 young children but remarried in 1914 in Oldham, Lancs, (no longer on the waterways). Would this have been usual practice - for 13 years before she remarried? Or would she have sold it? I'm trying to connect Wrenbury & Oldham. (She was from Runcorn) Thanks Jane
