    1. [CANAL-PEOPLE] Researching WICKSON
    2. Rob & Marg
    3. Greetings all, I am a new lister and I write from New Zealand. I am researching my 3rd great grandparents and their family who our family legends and myths etc tell were barge people in the canal area around Oxford. His name was Thomas WICKSON. His wife and my 3rd great grandmother is completely unknown to us here in the far antipodes. Family knowledge also states that Thomas Wickson lived in Tenement 2 in Fisher Row, Oxford on 30 Dec. 1841. This comes from "Fisher Row, Fishermen, Bargemen & Canal Boatmen in Oxford 1500-1900", by Mary Prior, and is located in Appendix III on page 357. Thomas Wickson's daughter, Ann Maria Wickson married George Hancox of Tysoe in 1858. The couple emigrated to New Zealand in 1873 where they became farmers and were held in high esteem by their fellow citizens. They are buried in the Peria Cemetery in the Oruru Valley in northern New Zealand. I would be most grateful for ANY help, clues, possible sources/research options, or advice that anyone can pass me. My New Zealand records relating to this couple and their descendant lines are available to anyone interested. Rob Knight Paraparaumu S 40 54, E 174 59 New Zealand
