My 2xgreat grandfather was James Clark, Master Mariner. In the 1851 Census he and his wife Susan and their family, Jane, aged 16, Hasten, aged 14 and Ann, aged 12 lived at Commercial Road, Riverhead, Louth, Lincolnshire. I am interested in learning more about the canal there and what type of ship he might have been Master on!! In the 1841 Census, the family was also at the same address, but James is not listed. So perhaps he was at sea?? Can anyone help me with any info??
