Dear Listers If any of you have any information about the following family of canal people I would be delighted to hear from you. My great, great grandparents were WILLIAM HODGKINS AND SARAH (nee DOVEY) and their six children who survived to adulthood, Clara, Riley, Esther, Agnes, Ellen and Rosina. Four other children died in infancy. I have William and Sarah on the 1871 Census at Hazelhurst Lock, Longton with two children Clara and Riley (although their surname is given as Hopkins). On the same boat is JOSEPH EASTHORPE (a servant) aged 10 years, born at Dudley. Is this of help to anyone? There are two more boats on the page I have - one shows a family called DUNKLEY, the other showing Edward FISHER (aged 18) born Newcastle, Staffs. George PHILPOTS (this is very poor and could be Philips or Philkins or something else beginning with PhilÂ…..) aged 13 born Oldbury and William GIBSON aged 20 born Stone. Hoping these names may be of help to someone. I have my Hodgkins on the 1881 Census at Fradley Junction and another boat there with James and John MOOR (father and son aged 55 and 25 respectively) and James GRIFFIN (grandson, aged 9) I would like to find William Hodgkins and Sarah Dovey on the 1861 Census before they were married and also on the 1891 and 1901 Censusus. Other names connected to this family are BRANSON, FAIRCLOUGH, WARD, KENDERDINE, BROAD, RUSH If anyone could help I would be very grateful Sue Jones __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
