    3. Sylvia, I have already been in touch with Dawn, who posted the message originally to the Banbury list. She gave me some memories of 'Jack' Grantham, who was Amos's father. Jack was in fact John George Grantham, my Grandfather's brother. I met him once when I was a boy in the late 60's, so he must have been in his 80's as he was christened in 1881 (and still on his barge). Amos was actually christened Isaac Amos in Banbury on 14-11-1911. Jack apparently worked the section of the Oxford Canal from Aynho (Northants) to Coventry with loads of coal. I would love to get some information on this side of the family tree, especially any descendants of Amos, and perhaps Jack himself, as both my grandparents are no longer with us, so it's difficult to get information! I would estimate that there must be Grantham's from the canal boats around the midlands, who settled in places near to the canal routes they were taking. I know there are some around Hawkesbury Junction near to Coventry, who I'd never considered as possible relatives, despite being born in Coventry myself, and living there until 1996. It wasn't until moving to Bicester in Oxon. that I started my research, my paternal Grandparents being originally from Banbury, I found lots of Grantham relatives in and around Lower Heyford and, where their tradition on the Canals started, when they built the coal trading wharf there in the early 1800's. It still stands today, the last of several in LH. I spoke with the current owners (pleasure boats) who told me it was named 'Grantham's Wharf' when they bought it. So, if you can put me in touch with any Grantham's from these lines I'd be delighted. Best wishes (and crossed fingers!) Neil.
