    3. Hi Eric and list, My g grandfather, Samuel LLOYD, was a Canal Rope Maker and in 1857 he was in Salford, Manchester. He was in Halifax later in life and I would assume that it was canal work that fetch him over the "hills". would any of the list know what a Canal Rope Maker was. Maybe he worked alongside or near to Thomas HEEDS in Eric's posting?
