My interest in the Oxford Canal is that my chap, John Osborne, was born in Cropredy Oxon in 1764 and could possibly have worked on building the canal. He certainly moved home, seemingly following the route, from Cropredy to Napton on the Hill and then settling in Grandborough. He was listed as a labourer rather than waterman so this is only a guess. Does anyone have any clues as to whether the "Navigators" names were ever listed or if there are any other details of the men that did the digging? Bob Osborne
