Just to bring this information 'alive' for a moment,: at Warwick Road,Lapworth,Warwick, Robert HUDSON/M/46/Canal Manager & ...(Ins) (Pocklington,York) with wife, 4 ch & 2servts I now live in his house (built 1790) alongside the Stratford Canal (the house was here 7 years or so before the canal was built). I have until a few years ago been in touch with Mr Hudson's descendents and I have quite a lot of information on him and am interested in anything on his predecessor as canal manager, John William Kershaw, aged 39 in the 1851 census. If anyone on the list needs any information gathered locally around Lapworth please let me know and I'll try to assist. I have some canal knowlegde also hence part of the reason for joining the list.
