    3. Hi Canal People Could someone please point out the canal route a barge would take from Newbury, Berkshire, to London in the 1700's and early 1800's. Could you please list a few of the towns and the county for me so I can get an idea of the route. On an old map of Berkshire I can find the canal from Newbury to Reading then I loose it. Thanks if someone can help me with this. Ann Riley Vancouver Island BC Canada

    3. Hi Ann and list That's because they didn't need a canal from Reading to London - the River Thames does the job! From Reading it goes through Henley, Marlow, Maidenhead, Windsor, Staines, Walton, Kingston, Richmond, Kew, Hammersmith to London. Hope that helps David in Hertford, England Canal interests: BAXTER (Leigh area, also anywhere near the Bridgewater Canal in Lancashire or Cheshire) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ann Riley" <ariley@mars.ark.com> To: <CANAL-PEOPLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 31, 2002 10:48 PM Subject: [CANAL-PEOPLE] Where is? > Hi Canal People > Could someone please point out the canal route a barge would take from > Newbury, Berkshire, to London in the 1700's and early 1800's.
