Hi List Here are two sites some of you may not know about you may find helpful. The A2A database contains catalogues of archives held across England and dating from the 900s to the present day. It has very good instructions how to use the site. http://www.a2a.pro.gov.uk/ If you have connections to Somerset here is another one. http://www.somerset.gov.uk/archives/ Click on Search Catalogues & Indexes, then Document Catalogues. Good luck! Ann Riley Vancouver Island BC Canada

Hello to everyone To those of you who are interested and are able to there is another Canal spectacular happening this coming weekend 19,20 and 21st July in Birmingham. I set off this morning with my companions on the 65 year old working narrowboat Shad from Stoke Bruerne Northamptonshire on a journey of discovery it will take us three days which normally takes an hour by car or train. This was an everyday occurance for my ancestors, but to me it is a journey of discovery as the boat has no facilities on board as it is an unconverted narrow boat, as it was in it's working days. There will be a parade of working boats through the centre of the Birmingham canal system at approx 1pm everyday of the show. --------------------------------------------- This message was sent using Endymion MailMan. http://www.endymion.com/products/mailman/

The majority of people have 4 sets of grandparents so that means instead of having one special week on the television we would get four. If you could send your 4 messages, subject GGP, approx 40 words, and please include either a UK telephone number or postal address as well as your e-mail addy then they will go on screen in the order that you send them. As you all know they will then be placed on this Mailing List minus the telephone numbers and postal address. This gives you the advantage of not only reaching those with access to the internet but also those who have no computer, and they just may be your missing link. If for some reason you have more than 4 sets of great grandparents, do let me know and I will relax the normal rule of one message, per person, per week. Now sitting back hoping to get lots and lots of messages. Please feel free to pass this message around. Dear Kate, To run the 1881 Census CD on a Mac you need an emulator, an application that will give you a PC-like effect on the Mac desktop. I'm running the CD on SoftWindows and it works very well. VirtualPC is the obvious alternative.
