Peter, I don't know if it's any help, but there's a burial at St. Laurence's church, Foleshill on 02.05.1834 of Elizabeth READING of Longford, aged 65...nothing else 1813-1834...I have yet to transcribe the later years. Good luck Carole (Sheffield)

    1. [CANAL-PEOPLE] SHARROCK on Leeds/Liverpool in 1818
    2. Linda Mason
    3. Hello, This is my first posting to this list. I am looking for any information on a William SHARROCK who was born I believe in Blackburn ( but I've no definite proof of this), and married a Mary ORMISHER in 1801 in Ormskirk. They had a son William born 1808 in Ormskirk. I have been told that William (the elder) had a barge on the Leeds/Liverpool in 1818 and was wondering how I could find out any thing about this. I believe William (the elder) is buried in aughton Lancs, but have so far been unable to find any record of this either. Any info appreciated Linda

    3. Hi, I'm new to the list and am hoping someone can help me. I am looking form any information about a Lawrence JEWSBERRY/JEWSBURY/DEWSBURY or any similar spellings. He was a boatman from Leiscster, originally, however married and settle in Sutton Bonnington, Notts. Lawrence's last child was born in 1833 in Sutton Bonnington. In 1848, when his eldest daughter was born, he had not been heard of for 15 years. At sometime prior to his marriage, he had spent some time in jail for petty larceny. If anyone can help me or point me in the right direction I would be most appreciative. Thanks Margot Gladstone, QLD Australia

    3. Hi, Thanks for the information about 'virtual Hull' - just another of my brick walls. The message was mine. I usually sign as Ginger because that is what I'm known by. I now have a sneaking suspicion that my father-in-law may have been pulling the wool over our eyes when he led us to understand that the double barreled name wa an old one and that really it is his mother's maiden name and fathers surname. Perhaps I should be looking for DELLER or SMITH and a marriage of DELLER and SMITH Thanks again Ginger ----- Original Message ----- From: Johnson, Eric [CCS] <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, March 30, 2000 12:50 AM Subject: RE: [CANAL-PEOPLE] Canal death in Hull > Hi Julie > > Try http://www.virtual-hull.com/lost-friends.html > > On this page there is a Pat Deller-Smith seeking information about her father-in-law, John Deller-Smith who was born in Hull about 1914. 1. [CANAL-PEOPLE] Databases
    2. Nancy Plain
    3. Hi: I'm new to the list and was wondering if there are databases online or in print anywhere about the employees of canal boats? Our family lore says: Sarah Curtis [who is the mother of my great grandfather, Nelson Albert Curtis] was a cook on one of the canal boats on the Ohio Canal. At night when the boats would tie up, Nelson would go play in the farmers' fields along the canal and would find Indian arrowheads. [There never was any mention of Nelson's dad, who from Nelson's death certificate I've determined to be Harlow Curtis; and from the 1900 Ohio federal census it says Harlow was born in Ct.] Nelson was born Aug 22, 1864 in Lancaster, Fairfield Co., Ohio, so the time frame I'm looking at would probably be around 1868, I would guess. Can anyone help? Nancy [email protected] http://www.ohioparks.net/countrystage

    2. Sherrie Blackman
    3. Hi everyone, I'm researching a William HORSEMAN (c.1803 St Lambatts Church, Surrey) who apparently was a Barge Builder in Hertfordshire at some stage, before he sailed to Australia in 1841. His parents were: James HORSEMAN & Mary CUCAN. Is there an index of Barge Builders or any other records I could lookup in the UK? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Kind regards, Sherrie Blackman. Sydney, Australia.
